About the Buick Electra
The 1968 Buick Electra 225 represented the brand's flagship luxury offering, sitting atop the C-body platform shared with Cadillac. This model year featured the 'Big Block' 430 cubic-inch V8, which was introduced in 1967 to replace the aging Nailhead design, offering significantly improved breathing and torque. The 1968 version is distinguished by its new federally-mandated side marker lights and a refined grille design. Known as the 'Deuce and a Quarter' due to its 225-inch length, it provided a smooth, effortless driving experience synonymous with American 'boulevard ride' comfort.

- The 430 cubic-inch V8 used a unique 'quadrajet' carburettor and was specifically designed for high-torque output to move the Electra's two-ton kerb weight with ease.
- 1968 was the first year the Electra featured shoulder belts as standard equipment due to new US federal safety regulations.
