About the Pontiac Bonneville
The 1966 Bonneville represents the peak of Pontiac's full-size 'Wide-Track' era, featuring the iconic stacked headlights and sweeping Coke-bottle hips that defined 1960s American design. As the division's luxury flagship, it offered a more refined interior than the Catalina, often equipped with walnut trim and premium Morrokide upholstery. The 389 cubic-inch V8 provided effortless, creamy torque, making it a quintessential boulevard cruiser. While 1966 was the final year for the legendary 389 engine before it was enlarged to 400 cubic inches, it remains a favourite for its smoothness and reliability among collectors.
