About the Vauxhall Astra F
The Astra F, known internally as the T92, replaced the long-running Astra E (Mk2) and represented a significant leap in safety and build quality for Vauxhall. The 1.4 LS was a popular mid-range trim, offering a balance of economy and equipment that made it a staple of UK roads throughout the 1990s. While not a performance model, it featured the 'Hi-Torq' engine and improved side-impact protection, helping it compete against the Ford Escort and Volkswagen Golf. Today, surviving examples in LS trim are becoming increasingly rare, transitioning from everyday commuters to nostalgic modern classics.
