About the Vauxhall Astra H
The Astra H represented a significant design leap for Vauxhall, moving away from the conservative styling of its predecessor toward a more angular, 'New Edge' aesthetic. The SXi trim was a popular choice in the UK, offering a sportier suspension setup and interior styling without the higher running costs of the SRi or VXR models. In 2007, the 1.6-litre engine was updated to the VVT (Variable Valve Timing) unit, increasing output from 105 PS to 115 PS. While it lacked the ultimate polish of the Volkswagen Golf, its sharp handling and competitive pricing made it a staple of British roads for nearly a decade.
