About the Citroën ZX

Launched in 1991 to fill the gap between the AX and BX, the Citroën ZX was a departure from the brand's traditional eccentricity, opting for a more conventional design to compete with the Volkswagen Golf. Despite its conservative Bertone-styled exterior, it featured a sophisticated self-steering rear axle that provided class-leading handling and ride quality. The 1.4-litre TU3 engine was the mainstay of the range, offering reliable, if modest, performance for the small family car market. Today, it is remembered as the car that proved Citroën could build a high-quality, mass-market hatchback without sacrificing driver engagement.
