About the Triumph Spitfire 1500
The Triumph Spitfire 1500 represents the final chapter of a model line that spanned nearly two decades. Introduced in 1974, it combined the refined Mk IV bodywork with a larger 1,493cc engine designed to provide better torque for modern traffic, though US-market versions suffered significant power losses due to emissions equipment. Its separate chassis and front-hinged clamshell bonnet make it exceptionally easy to maintain, while the 'swing-spring' rear suspension addressed the handling quirks of earlier models. As an entry-level classic, it offers a pure, wind-in-the-hair driving experience with one of the tightest turning circles of any production car.
