About the Toyota HiAce H10
Launched in 1967, the H10-generation HiAce was Toyota's first purpose-built cab-over van, designed to offer more refinement than the truck-based ToyoAce. It featured a modern monocoque construction and independent front suspension, which was revolutionary for the light commercial segment at the time. The 1.6-litre '12R' engine variant, introduced shortly after launch to replace the smaller 1.5-litre unit, provided the necessary torque for its 850kg payload capacity. Today, first-generation HiAces are exceptionally rare due to heavy commercial use and rust, making well-preserved examples highly sought after by JDM collectors.
