About the BMW 1502 02 Series
The 1502 was introduced in 1975 as an entry-level 'economy' model to keep the 02 Series in production alongside the newer E21 3 Series. Despite the name, it used the 1573cc engine from the 1602 but with lower-compression pistons designed to run on cheaper, low-octane petrol. It retains the celebrated chassis balance and 'New Class' styling of its predecessors while offering a more accessible point of entry into BMW ownership. Today, it is valued by collectors for its purity and as the final iteration of the model that defined the modern sports sedan.
