About the Toyota Cresta X70
The X70-generation Toyota Cresta was a cornerstone of Japan's 'High Society' (High-So) car culture in the mid-1980s. Positioned as a more formal and luxurious alternative to the Mark II and Chaser, the Cresta featured a distinctive upright sedan profile with a unique wrap-around rear window. The Super Lucent trim was the luxury flagship, often equipped with plush velour upholstery, digital instrumentation, and Toyota's Electronic Modulated Suspension (TEMS). While the GT Twin Turbo offered more power, the Super Lucent focused on smooth, quiet cruising, powered by the silky 1G-EU inline-six engine.
