About the Volvo 760
Launched in 1982, the Volvo 760 was a bold departure from the 200-series, featuring a distinctive 'folded paper' design by Jan Wilsgaard that prioritised interior space and safety. The GLE trim served as the executive flagship, powered by the 2.8-litre PRV V6 engine developed in partnership with Peugeot and Renault. For the 1988 model year (introduced in late 1987), the 760 received a significant facelift including a new front end and a sophisticated multi-link rear suspension system. It is remembered as the car that modernised Volvo's image, proving that Swedish safety could be successfully paired with high-end luxury features.
