About the Subaru Impreza GC8
The Impreza Turbo 2000 was the UK's gateway to Subaru's World Rally Championship success, effectively a detuned version of the Japanese WRX. While it lacked the ultimate power of its JDM siblings, its lightweight GC8 chassis and symmetrical all-wheel-drive system made it a giant-killer on twisty B-roads. The 1997 model year brought significant updates, including a redesigned interior with a new dashboard and improved seats, alongside 16-inch wheels and larger brakes. It remains a definitive modern classic, prized for its mechanical purity, distinctive boxer burble, and giant-killing cross-country pace.
