About the Subaru Impreza GH
The third-generation Impreza, known as the GH, marked a significant shift for Subaru by adopting a dedicated five-door hatchback body style to better compete in the European market. The 1.5R served as the entry-level variant, featuring the EL15 naturally aspirated boxer engine. While it lacked the turbocharged punch of the WRX, it retained Subaru's signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, providing superior grip compared to front-wheel-drive rivals like the Ford Focus or Volkswagen Golf. It is noted for its comfortable ride and robust mechanicals, though the small engine often feels underpowered for the weight of the AWD system.
