About the Subaru Impreza P1 GC8
Developed by Prodrive specifically for the UK market, the P1 (Prodrive One) was a response to the flood of grey-import STIs that lacked European type approval. Based on the stiff two-door WRX STI Type R bodyshell, it featured a bespoke suspension setup tuned for British tarmac, ditching the adjustable centre differential for a more road-biased viscous coupling. The EJ20 engine was recalibrated to meet EU emissions while delivering a potent 280 PS, paired with a quick-shift gearbox and iconic Sonic Blue paint. It remains one of the most celebrated iterations of the GC8 generation, prized for its balance of rally-bred performance and real-world usability.
