About the Renault Clio Mk2
The second-generation Renault Clio, particularly the Phase 2 facelift introduced in 2001, solidified the model's position as a European best-seller. The 1.2-litre 16v Expression trim was a popular mid-range choice, offering a balance of economy and improved safety features like standard ABS and front airbags. Its rounded, friendly styling and surprisingly supple ride quality made it a favourite for city driving and first-time owners. While not a performance car, its lightweight chassis and rev-happy D4F engine provided a characterful driving experience typical of French small cars of the era.
