About the Dacia Sandero Mk1
Launched in 2008, the first-generation Dacia Sandero was designed as a low-cost alternative to established B-segment hatchbacks, utilising proven Renault-Nissan B0 platform components. The 1.4-litre MPI engine is a simple 8-valve unit known for its durability and ease of maintenance, though it offers modest performance. While the interior is dominated by hard plastics and basic equipment, the car gained a cult following for its 'everything you need, nothing you don't' philosophy. It was famously popularised in the UK by Top Gear's 'Good News' segment, though the Mk1 did not officially reach British shores until the Mk2 arrived in 2013.
