About the Porsche 911 Speedster G-Series
The 1989 Speedster was the first Porsche to wear the name since the 356, serving as a final celebration of the long-running G-Series 911. It is defined by its shortened, more raked windscreen and a distinctive polyurethane double-bubble rear deck that conceals a simplified manual folding top. While a handful were built with the 'Narrow Body' silhouette, the vast majority featured the 'Turbo Look' wide-body arches and chassis components. It uses the reliable 3.2-litre Carrera engine and the desirable G50 gearbox, offering a raw, wind-in-the-face driving experience.

Porsche 911 Speedster G-Series fun facts
- Of the 2,104 units produced, only 171 were ordered with the 'Narrow Body' Carrera style, making them significantly rarer than the wide-body versions.
- The Speedster's minimalist folding roof was not intended to be fully weather-tight; Porsche famously required buyers to sign a disclaimer acknowledging this fact.
- The design was inspired by a 1985 prototype created by Helmuth Bott, which itself was a spiritual successor to the 356 Speedster of the 1950s.
