About the Buick Roadmaster
The 1955 Roadmaster represented the top of Buick's hierarchy, sharing the C-body platform with Cadillac but retaining its own distinct character. It is powered by the famous 322 cubic-inch 'Nailhead' V8, so named for its small, vertical valves, which provided high torque for effortless cruising. The 1955 model year is particularly noted for its revised front grille and the introduction of the variable-pitch Dynaflow transmission, which improved acceleration. As a collector piece, it is prized for its heavy chrome detailing, panoramic 'wraparound' windscreen, and the signature four VentiPorts on the front wings.
