About the Jaguar XJ6 Series 1
Launched in 1968, the Series 1 XJ6 was the final model designed under the direct supervision of Jaguar founder Sir William Lyons. It replaced four separate saloon ranges with a single, masterfully engineered platform that set new global benchmarks for ride quality and refinement. The 4.2-litre XK engine provided effortless performance, while the sophisticated independent rear suspension ensured handling that rivalled contemporary sports cars. Today, the Series 1 is prized by collectors for its 'pure' aesthetic, featuring the original slim chrome bumpers and a classic dashboard layout that was simplified in later generations.
