About the Peugeot 605
Launched in 1989 to replace the 604 and 505, the Peugeot 605 was a sophisticated executive saloon sharing its platform with the Citroën XM. Its understated, elegant bodywork was penned by Pininfarina, bearing a strong resemblance to the Alfa Romeo 164 of the same era. While praised for its exceptional ride quality and sharp handling, early models were plagued by electrical reliability issues that damaged its reputation against German rivals. The 2.0 SRi served as a mid-range petrol variant, offering a balanced blend of Peugeot's traditional long-distance comfort and a competent chassis.
