About the Peugeot 106 Rallye
The Phase 2 Peugeot 106 Rallye was created to homologate the car for Group N and A rallying, following the success of the high-revving 1.3-litre Phase 1. It utilised the 1.6-litre 8-valve engine from the 106 GTI but omitted heavy features like power steering, electric windows, and sound deadening to keep weight below 900kg. The result is a car celebrated for its telepathic steering, adjustable chassis, and ability to maintain momentum through corners. While less powerful than the 16-valve GTI, the Rallye is often preferred by collectors for its raw, unfiltered driving experience and distinctive steel wheels.
