About the Maserati Quattroporte I
Introduced at the 1963 Turin Motor Show, the Maserati Quattroporte (Tipo AM107) pioneered the concept of the high-performance luxury saloon. It featured a quad-cam V8 engine derived from the 450S race car and 5000GT, housed in a sophisticated steel monocoque body designed by Pietro Frua and built by Vignale. Early Series I cars are distinguished by their rectangular headlights and a De Dion tube rear suspension, offering a unique blend of grand touring speed and executive comfort. Despite its size, the Quattroporte was the fastest four-door car of its era, capable of sustained high speeds on the newly built European autostradas.
