About the Maserati Karif
The Maserati Karif is a luxury coupé based on the shortened chassis of the Zagato-bodied Spyder, designed to offer a more focused and agile driving experience than the standard Biturbo. Named after a Somali wind, it features a fixed notchback roof that increased structural rigidity compared to its open-top sibling. The 2.8-litre V6 engine, equipped with two IHI turbochargers, provides significant mid-range punch, though the car is known for its challenging handling near the limit. With only 221 units produced, it remains one of the rarest and most distinctive iterations of the Biturbo era.

Maserati Karif fun facts
- The Karif utilized the 2.4-metre short wheelbase from the Spyder, making it significantly shorter and more nimble than the contemporary 222 coupé.
- Despite its luxury positioning, the Karif was surprisingly quick for its time, with a 0-60 mph time that rivalled contemporary Ferraris.
- The interior was lavishly appointed with gathered leather and the signature Maserati gold-faced oval clock, a hallmark of the brand's 1980s aesthetic.
