About the Lada XRAY
The Lada XRAY was launched in late 2015 as a compact 'high hatchback' designed to modernise AvtoVAZ's image under the direction of Steve Mattin. It shares the B0 platform with the Dacia Sandero Stepway but features unique 'X-style' body sculpting that became a signature for the brand. The 1.6-litre variant uses the VAZ-21129 engine, offering a balance of simplicity and durability suited for Russian road conditions. Production ceased in 2022 following the exit of Renault from the Russian market and subsequent supply chain disruptions.

Lada XRAY fun facts
- The XRAY's distinctive 'X' side contours were designed by Steve Mattin, who previously worked on designs for Volvo and Mercedes-Benz.
- Despite its SUV-like ground clearance of 195mm, the XRAY was never offered with an all-wheel-drive system.
- The model was the second entirely new Lada design of the 2010s, following the Vesta, aimed at competing with European budget brands.
