About the Lada Riva
The Lada Riva, known domestically as the VAZ-2107 in its deluxe form, was a Soviet evolution of the Fiat 124 platform. The 1500 GLS represented the upper tier of the UK range, featuring a more powerful chain-driven OHC engine and a five-speed gearbox. While often the subject of Western satire for its primitive dynamics and boxy styling, it was prized for its ruggedness and ease of repair. Today, it has transitioned from a budget punchline to a cult classic, valued for its mechanical honesty and historical significance as one of the world's most-produced vehicle platforms.
