About the Honda S2000 AP1
Honda launched the S2000 in 1999 as a compact rear-wheel-drive roadster. The early AP1 combines a naturally aspirated two-litre VTEC engine with a close-ratio six-speed manual and limited-slip differential. Its front-mid-engine layout and double-wishbone suspension put driver involvement ahead of touring comfort. This entry represents the original US-market 240 hp specification, before the later AP2’s 2.2-litre engine.
