About the Honda N360
Launched in March 1967, the N360 was Honda's first mass-produced passenger car, designed to dominate the Japanese 'Kei' car segment. It utilised an air-cooled parallel-twin engine derived from Honda's motorcycle expertise, capable of revving to 9,000 rpm and producing a class-leading 31 hp. The 'N' prefix stood for 'norimono' (vehicle), and its space-efficient front-wheel-drive layout allowed for a surprisingly roomy cabin within tiny exterior dimensions. Its success paved the way for the N600 export model and eventually the first-generation Civic, establishing Honda as a serious automotive manufacturer.
