About the Honda CR-X Mk1
The first-generation Honda CR-X, known as the Ballade Sports CR-X in Japan, was a masterclass in efficiency and driver engagement. The 1.6i-16 variant introduced the DOHC ZC engine, providing a significant performance boost over the earlier SOHC models. Its extremely short wheelbase and sub-900kg kerb weight resulted in go-kart-like handling that remains a benchmark for front-wheel-drive cars. Today, it is highly prized by collectors for its purity, mechanical simplicity, and the high-revving nature of its fuel-injected power plant.
