About the Ford Ranger Mk1
The facelifted Mk1 Ford Ranger (internally PG/PH) refreshed the first Mazda-based global Ranger, designed to offer improved refinement over its utilitarian predecessor. While the North American Ranger was an in-house Ford design, this international version was co-developed with Mazda and built in Thailand, sharing its DNA with the B-Series. The 2.5-litre turbo diesel engine provided reliable, if unhurried, performance, making it a staple for agricultural and commercial use across Europe and Asia. It is remembered for its honest, mechanical feel and genuine off-road capability, often outlasting more modern rivals in harsh conditions.
