About the Ford Falcon FG
The FG series Falcon, launched in 2008, represented a significant evolution of Ford Australia's long-running nameplate, featuring all-new body panels and a refined interior. It introduced the 'G Series' luxury line to replace the Fairmont, while retaining the robust Barra inline-six engine that had become a staple of Australian motoring. The FG was the first Australian-made car to achieve a five-star ANCAP safety rating, reflecting a major focus on occupant protection. While it faced stiff competition from the Holden VE Commodore and the rising popularity of SUVs, the FG remains a respected example of locally engineered rear-wheel-drive performance and durability.
