About the Ford E-Series
The second-generation Ford Econoline, introduced for the 1969 model year (though production began in early 1968), marked a radical departure from its Falcon-based predecessor. By moving the engine forward into a 'snub-nose' front and adopting the Twin-I-Beam suspension from the F-Series trucks, Ford significantly increased cargo capacity and stability. The E-200 trim served as the heavy-duty 3/4-ton variant, bridging the gap between the light-duty E-100 and the one-ton E-300. This generation is highly prized by collectors today for its role in the 1970s 'vanning' subculture, offering a robust platform for elaborate custom interiors and psychedelic paint jobs.
