About the Ford E-Series
The 1975 model year marked the debut of the third-generation E-Series, a landmark redesign that introduced body-on-frame construction to the full-size van segment. By moving the engine forward and adopting a 'two-box' layout, Ford significantly improved interior space and serviceability while sharing heavy-duty components with the F-Series trucks. This generation became the quintessential canvas for the 1970s custom van culture, often outfitted with shag carpeting, porthole windows, and elaborate airbrushed murals. Its robust Twin-I-Beam front suspension and range of V8 engines made it a durable choice for both commercial fleets and cross-country adventurers.
