About the Shelby GT500
The 1967 Shelby GT500 marked a significant shift for Shelby American, moving away from the track-focused GT350 toward a more powerful and comfortable grand tourer. It was the first Shelby Mustang to feature a big-block engine, the 428-cubic-inch 'Police Interceptor' V8, topped with dual Holley four-barrel carburetors. Visually, the 1967 model is distinguished by its aggressive fiberglass bodywork, including a functional hood scoop, side intakes, and a ducktail spoiler. It remains one of the most iconic muscle cars ever produced, famously immortalised as 'Eleanor' in popular culture.
