About the BMW 7 Series E65
The E65 7 Series was a radical departure for BMW, introducing the controversial 'Flame Surfacing' design language by Adrian van Hooydonk under Chris Bangle's direction. It was the first production car to feature the iDrive infotainment system, a move that initially polarised critics but eventually set the industry standard for cabin technology. The 745i is powered by the N62 V8, the world's first engine to use a continuously variable intake manifold. While its 'Bangle Butt' rear styling was mocked at launch, the E65 became the best-selling 7 Series to that date, proving its forward-thinking luxury was what the market desired.
