About the Hyundai i30 FD
The first-generation Hyundai i30, codenamed FD, was a pivotal model designed specifically for the European market at Hyundai's Rüsselsheim technical centre. Sharing its platform with the Kia Cee'd, it marked a significant leap forward in build quality and refinement compared to the preceding Elantra. The 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engine was a popular choice, offering a strong balance of fuel economy and mid-range torque. While not a performance car, its multi-link rear suspension provided more sophisticated handling than many of its contemporary rivals using torsion beams.
