About the Toyota Yaris XP10

Launched in 1999 to replace the Starlet, the first-generation Toyota Yaris (XP10) was a revelation in the supermini class, winning European Car of the Year in 2000. Its 'tall-but-short' design prioritised interior space, featuring a sliding rear bench that allowed owners to choose between legroom and boot capacity. The 1.0-litre VVT-i engine was remarkably advanced for its time, utilizing variable valve timing to deliver decent efficiency and refinement. Inside, the central digital '3D' dashboard became a signature trait, offering a futuristic feel in an affordable package. Today, it is remembered as one of the most reliable and intelligently packaged small cars ever made.
