About the Talbot Avenger

The Talbot Avenger represents the final chapter of a car originally launched in 1970 by the Rootes Group as the Hillman Avenger. Following Chrysler's sale of its European operations to PSA Peugeot Citroën in 1978, the model was rebranded as a Talbot for its final years of production. The 1.6 GL was a mid-to-high range trim, offering a balance of modest performance and improved interior comfort compared to the base models. Known for its conventional but well-sorted rear-wheel-drive chassis, the Avenger was praised in its era for handling that was superior to many of its contemporary rivals.
