About the Vauxhall Cavalier Mk1
Launched in 1975 to replace the ageing Victor, the Mk1 Cavalier was a pivotal model that modernised Vauxhall's image. Essentially a rebadged Opel Ascona B with a unique 'droop snoot' front end designed by Wayne Cherry, it offered superior handling and refinement compared to its arch-rival, the Ford Cortina. The 1.6 L was the heart of the range, serving as a staple for both families and the burgeoning fleet market. Today, Mk1 Cavaliers are exceptionally rare due to low survival rates, making well-preserved examples highly sought after by enthusiasts of 1970s British motoring.
