About the Suzuki Ignis
The first-generation Suzuki Ignis was a unique proposition in the early 2000s, blending supermini dimensions with a tall, SUV-inspired stance. Developed in collaboration with General Motors, it shared its platform with the Chevrolet Cruze and Subaru G3X Justy. The 1.3 GL was the core variant, offering a punchy M13A engine and a surprisingly spacious cabin for its footprint. While not a true off-roader, its high ground clearance made it popular for urban utility and light rural use. Its legacy is cemented by the Ignis Sport, which served as the basis for Suzuki's successful Junior World Rally Championship entry.
