About the Subaru Justy JMA
The second-generation Subaru Justy (JMA) was a unique collaboration between Subaru and Suzuki, essentially a rebadged Suzuki Swift (Cultus) built at the Magyar Suzuki plant in Hungary. While it shared its body and interior with the Swift, Subaru equipped it with a permanent all-wheel-drive system using a viscous-coupling centre differential, a rarity in the supermini segment. The 1.3-litre GX trim offered a rugged, dependable alternative for drivers in alpine or rural regions who needed winter traction without the bulk of a full SUV. Though modest in power, its lightweight construction and mechanical simplicity have earned it a cult following among enthusiasts of '90s Japanese oddities.
