About the MG 5 Mk1
Launched in 2012, the first-generation MG 5 was a significant step in the brand's rebirth under SAIC Motor ownership. Designed to compete in the global C-segment, it shared its platform with the Roewe 350 and featured a sharp, contemporary design inspired by the 2011 MG Concept 5. While it carried the iconic British badge, it was primarily engineered and manufactured in China, targeting young urban buyers with a focus on affordability and technology. The 1.5-litre VTi-Tech engine provided modest performance, but the car's significance lies in establishing the template for MG's modern global expansion.
