About the Shelby Cobra 427
The 427 Cobra arrived in 1965 as the wider, coil-sprung Mk III development of Shelby’s Anglo-American sports car. A big-block Ford V8 made road cars brutally quick, while competition and semi-competition versions further sharpened the formula. Short wheelbase, enormous torque and minimal weather protection demand a careful driver. Genuine period cars must be distinguished from the many later replicas and continuation cars.
