About the Saturn S-Series

Launched as General Motors' ambitious 'import fighter', the Saturn S-Series was a clean-sheet design intended to challenge the dominance of Japanese compacts. Its most distinctive feature was the use of dent-resistant polymer body panels mounted to a steel spaceframe, which kept the car looking new and rust-free for years. The 1991 SL (Saturn Sedan) was the entry-point for the brand, offering a simple, honest driving experience with a focus on fuel economy and reliability. While it lacked the refinement of its Honda and Toyota rivals, its unique 'no-haggle' buying process and dedicated customer base earned it a cult following.
