About the Rover 400 XW
The Rover 400 (XW) was a pivotal model for the British marque, developed in close collaboration with Honda and sharing its platform with the Concerto. While the exterior styling was distinctively Rover, featuring a more traditional 'three-box' profile than its 200-series hatchback sibling, it was the 1.4-litre K-Series engine that defined the 414i. This advanced twin-cam, 16-valve unit offered performance that rivalled many competitors' 1.6-litre engines, wrapped in a cabin featuring wood veneers and high-quality fabrics. Today, the XW generation is remembered as one of the high points of the Rover-Honda partnership, offering a blend of Japanese reliability and British luxury.
