About the Dodge Spirit

The Dodge Spirit was introduced in 1989 as a replacement for the 600, built on the Chrysler A-body platform which was a stretched version of the ubiquitous K-car architecture. The 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine served as the base powerplant, prioritising reliability and low-end torque over outright performance. While the R/T variant gained fame for its Lotus-designed head, the standard 2.5 was a high-volume commuter known for its spacious interior and 'formal' upright styling. It remains a representative example of American badge engineering from the Lee Iacocca era.
