About the Saab 9-3
The first-generation Saab 9-3, often called the 'OG' by enthusiasts, was a significant evolution of the GM2900-based 900. While it shared underpinnings with the Opel Vectra, Saab engineers implemented over 1,100 changes to improve handling and safety, including the introduction of Saab Active Head Restraints (SAHR). The 2.0t SE trim featured the 'Full Pressure Turbo' engine, providing the characteristic Saab surge of mid-range torque that made it an effortless motorway cruiser. It remains a cult favourite for its eccentric ergonomics, such as the floor-mounted ignition, and its reputation for exceptional real-world durability.
