About the Saab 92
The Saab 92 was the first production automobile from the Swedish aircraft manufacturer, featuring a remarkably aerodynamic profile with a drag coefficient of 0.30. Its design was heavily influenced by aeronautical engineering, utilizing a monocoque body and a transverse two-cylinder, two-stroke engine. Early models are famously known for being available only in bottle green, allegedly due to a surplus of wartime aircraft paint. Despite its modest power, the 92's front-wheel-drive layout and low centre of gravity made it a successful early rally car, setting the stage for Saab's future motorsport triumphs.

Saab 92 fun facts
- The Saab 92's drag coefficient of 0.30 was superior to many modern sports cars, including the Ferrari F40.
- Early production cars were only available in green because Saab had a massive surplus of cellulose paint left over from building fighter planes.
- To prevent engine damage from oil starvation during coasting, the 92 was equipped with a freewheel device, a feature that became a Saab hallmark for decades.
