About the Volvo S80 Mk2
The second-generation Volvo S80 moved the Swedish flagship onto the Ford-developed EUCD platform, sharing underpinnings with the contemporary Mondeo but with a focus on Scandinavian luxury. The D5 SE was the heart of the UK range, featuring Volvo's own all-aluminium five-cylinder diesel engine which provided a characterful warble rarely found in the executive segment. While it lacked the sharp handling of its German rivals, it excelled in long-distance refinement and safety innovation, introducing features like the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS). The interior is noted for its 'floating' centre console and exceptionally ergonomic seats, making it a dedicated motorway cruiser.
