About the Rover SD1 Vitesse
The Rover SD1 Vitesse was the ultimate evolution of the David Bache-designed executive hatchback, featuring a fuel-injected version of the venerable Buick-derived Rover V8. Launched in 1982, it sat 25mm lower than the standard car and featured uprated suspension, ventilated disc brakes, and a distinctive deep front air dam. The Vitesse became a formidable competitor in Group A touring car racing, famously winning the 1986 British Touring Car Championship. Today, it is highly prized by collectors for its combination of effortless torque, charismatic engine note, and iconic 'Daytona' silhouette.
