About the Daimler Sovereign Series III
The Series III Daimler Sovereign represents the final evolution of the original XJ shape, featuring a subtle but effective Pininfarina restyle that increased the glass area and modernised the roofline. As the more prestigious sibling to the Jaguar XJ6, the Daimler variant is distinguished by its signature fluted radiator grille and higher standard of interior appointment, including more lavish leather and wood finishes. The 4.2-litre XK engine in this generation benefited from Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection, providing smoother power delivery and improved reliability over earlier carburetted versions. It remains a benchmark for ride quality, offering a level of refinement and 'waftability' that few modern luxury cars can replicate.
