About the Ford Capri Mk3
The 2.8 Injection saved the Capri line in the 1980s, replacing the 3.0 Essex V6 with a more modern, reliable power plant. Developed by Ford's Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) department, it featured uprated suspension, gas-filled Bilstein dampers, and a limited-slip differential from 1984 onwards. While the live rear axle and leaf springs remained, the 2.8i offered a more composed and faster driving experience than its predecessors. It remains the definitive 'everyman' sports coupé of its era, blending blue-collar charm with genuine performance.
